Of course I controlling, I am a first born son of first born sons for generations of a Scottish house. I am an autocrat, & a fairly high Choleric in the personality tests. So yes I am controlling & its hard work to be a tram player, to ask people to do things rather than tell or order.
So over many years I have come to trust the Holy Spirit I love to watch him work in people & in me.

We (the western church) have created an intolerable environment for those who choose so called "full-time" ministry (I think the bible makes it clear that we're ALL in full-time ministry - but that's an argument for another time).
We (the Christians) have abdicated our responsibilities, duties, etc, to either the "leadership" or Satan, the leadership has foolishly accepted this and now treats it as "normal".
We therefore put so much pressure onto our leadership to effectively do the job that the Holy Spirit and each of us individually is supposed to do (if other words we set them an impossible task that they can’t possibly do and then expect them to do it). No wonder people burn out. No wonder people stray, break down, etc. We've made failure an unforgivable sin and are more likely to shoot our wounded and sweep the body under the carpet then to actually deal with the situation scripturally with mercy, love, forgiveness, understanding, etc. All of the attributes we want God to deal with us - yet we're unwilling to extend them to others.
We force man-made lines and processes of accountability onto people with no regard for how God wants it - all in His name of course - this makes it OK (apparently).
Scripturally, the purpose of the 5-fold ministry is to equip the rest of us to be and do, yet we constantly expect THEM to be and do - after all, isn't that what we pay them for?
Is it any wonder the church & its leadership are at best hamstrung and at worse dysfunctional?
It’s time to wake up and smell the Rose.

Without fail, every time I have taken any initiative at the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I have been reprimanded and been told that either I didn't have the go ahead from the 'pastor' or that is not your job, that is the 'pastors' job.

Responses like that suggest that Jesus is not allowed to build his church as he is subject to man made authority as well. The catch cry is that everything is to be done decently in order which is only a euphamism for "you don't do anything unless the pastor approves."

Again any gift from God is given at his choosing according to scripture. However, unless you are approved and deemed worthy and have served the system faithfully, your gifting is not welcome.

Are we talking about the church here? I don't think so as it spends most of its time avoiding what the scripture says. No wonder believers are leaving this so called "church" in droves and moving into a true expression of what the scriputre calls "church." No wonder the church in the home is taking off at a rate of knots all over the world.

The church in the building is raking in millions of dollars annually, 95% of which is spent on themselves (Barna research). The church in the home without all the trappings of the system are free to spend their money on people in need and suffering saints overseas.

I know which one you find in scripture and which one you don't.
